Visit any non-SSL website in your favourite browser and you will notice it may show an insecure warning such as the example above.
Why fuss over SSL in South Africa?
South African websites without SSL have been tagged as insecure when visitors try to open them in their broswers. This is very bad for business and most user’s won’t risk reading your website if they see this warning.
In short, look at the bit in front of your web address (URL) and check if it has http or https (note the “s”):
- HTTP = insecure
- HTTPS = secure
Having a secure connection means having SSL installed on your South African website. This gives users the confidence to browse your website in the knowledge that they are protected.
